The Sex Pistols Anniversary !

Why Listening to Rock Music Can be Healthy

Aside from making you feel good, there are actually a lot of other reasons why you should turn up your speakers and listen to The Sex Pistols more often. According to a September 2009 article from The Daily Mail, researchers at Manchester University have discovered that loud music can stimulate the sacculus - a part of the inner ear that only responds to sounds above 90 decibels. The sacculus is also believed to be connected to that part of the brain that is responsible for hunger and sex responses. Researchers think this is the reason why loud music can sometimes make us feel calm and euphoric. Based on these findings, we can conclude that rock music is ideal for exercising since it helps the brain release feel-good hormones that give us more stamina to endure long workouts.

Listening to rock music and jumping about is also a healthy way to release stress and anxiety. It can sometimes even become a positive solution to anger management. Instead of wasting your energy yelling and bickering, lock yourself up in your room, turn up the volume on your amplifier, and surrender yourself to the madness of rock music. There is just something about listening to banging drums and screeching guitars that unleashes something primal within us. After about 20 minutes of listening to rock songs, one usually feels more uplifted and in control. So the next time you have had a bad day, fight the urge to drop by your favourite fast food chain for some comfort eating. Go home and play some rock music instead.
