The Function of an Audio Mixer's Faders

One of the main aspects that you notice on mixers are the rows of volume fader bars. Each channel or input is independently controlled by a fader bar that allows one to make level or amplitude adjustments of that channel. So, for example, you can adjust the volume of the electric guitar's audio signals in channel 4 to blend in with the softer sounds of the violin's audio signal in channel 5 without changing channel 5's volume level. The signals are then summed up to create a main mix or a submix.
